Zamfara State says the ongoing construction of the Zamfara International Airport in Gusau will expand investment prospects across the state, according to the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Lawal Barau Bungudu.

He made the disclosure after inspecting the project on Tuesday, stating that the terminal buildings and major structural components are on track for completion by the end of January 2026. He reaffirmed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, noting that the project is progressing according to schedule.

Bungudu said the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal remains focused on delivering an international-standard airport designed to attract investors and enhance economic growth. He added that the facility is expected to play a central role in improving connectivity and unlocking new business opportunities.

Engineer Nicholas, a project official, said the domestic and international terminal buildings are nearing completion. He reported that the fire station has reached 50 percent completion, while the control tower is at 60 percent.

He added that the contractors are working within the agreed timelines, projecting that the project will hit 90 percent completion by February 2026. The 3.4-kilometre runway, including its shoulders, is now at 80 percent progress, with overall work advancing steadily toward the set deadlines.
