Governor Dauda Lawal has assented to the ₦871.337 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill. The signing transforms the fiscal proposal into law for Zamfara State.
Okay News reports that the ceremony followed swift approval by the State House of Assembly. Lawal signed the bill shortly after its passage on December 19, 2025.
The original proposal presented on December 4 stood at ₦861.3 billion. Assembly review added ₦10 billion based on committee recommendations.
House Committee on Finance and Appropriation Chairman Rilwanu Na-Gambo presented the report. All Ministries, Departments, and Agencies defended their submissions.
The committee noted improved revenue profiles across most MDAs. It recommended N8 billion extra capital expenditure for the Ministry of Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs.
An additional N2 billion went to recurrent spending for the Assembly itself. These adjustments elevated the final figure.
Speaker Bilyaminu Isma’il highlighted alignment with administration priorities. Focus areas include security, agriculture, health, education, and infrastructure.
The budget emphasises local government needs and grassroots aspirations. It promotes equity, inclusion, and balanced resource allocation.
Deputy Governor Mani Malam Mumini attended the signing. Speaker Isma’il and other officials also witnessed the event.
