Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed plans to meet United States President Donald Trump in the coming days, signalling renewed diplomatic efforts aimed at bringing the Russia–Ukraine war to an end.
Zelensky said the high-level engagement could take place before the end of the year and may help unlock key decisions on the conflict.
The planned meeting follows fresh discussions between American and Ukrainian officials, which produced a multi-point proposal designed to de-escalate the war.
Okay News reports that the draft plan, already forwarded to Moscow, includes freezing current battle lines while allowing room for future negotiations, without forcing Ukraine to formally abandon its bid to join NATO.
Zelensky, however, has raised concerns over aspects of the proposal that could restrict Ukraine’s military capabilities, insisting that national borders must not be altered through force.
Meanwhile, Russia has maintained a cautious stance, with the Kremlin saying it is still reviewing the proposal, even as officials acknowledge that talks toward ending the war are progressing gradually.
