The Federal Government (FG) has said that the Zungeru 700 megawatts Hydro Power Plant has undergone 45 per cent completion.

Deputy Director of Energy Resources, Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, Engineer Olatubosun Owoeye, said this on Wednesday while he visited the project site.

According to Owoeye, the Zungeru Power Plant would be completed at the end of 2019, adding that six turbines would be installed.

He added that when finished, the Zungeru Power Plant would trigger off economic activities in the area, an offshoot of improved power supply.

In addition, he noted that agricultural activities of the region would be enhanced as the dam would provide irrigation for all year farming.

The Zungeru Hydro Power Plant is a joint project of the federal government and the Chinese government at a financial contribution ratio of 25/75 per cent respectively.
