Abuja, NIGERIA – Popular Nigerian businessman, Linus Williams, widely known as BLord, has been granted bail by a court, marking a new development in his high-profile legal dispute with social media activist Martins Vincent Otse (VDM).
Okay News reports that the bail was disclosed by activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore, who stated that BLord was granted bail on self-recognizance. However, the court ordered him to deposit his international passport as part of the conditions.
BLord had been remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre following allegations that he impersonated VDM, used his image without consent, and engaged in forgery. Authorities had earlier ordered his detention for 26 days pending investigation.
The case stems from a long-running feud between both figures, which escalated from social media exchanges into a legal battle. VDM accused BLord of falsely presenting him as a brand ambassador for the “Billpoint” platform, including claims that he was paid ₦500 million—allegations he strongly denied.
Further claims against BLord include forging documents and creating misleading promotional materials, such as a fake flight ticket suggesting VDM’s involvement in a business event.
The dispute, which began around 2024, intensified in 2025 after VDM accused BLord of fraudulent business practices, including selling refurbished phones as new devices. Since then, both parties have traded accusations, filed petitions, and taken legal action against each other.
The controversy has drawn widespread public attention, with mixed reactions. While some have called for an out-of-court settlement, others insist the matter should be resolved strictly through legal proceedings.
Despite being granted bail, the case remains ongoing, with VDM maintaining his stance to pursue the matter in court.
