UNITED KINGDOM — The heat is on. United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer is fighting a massive political storm today. Opposition forces are demanding his immediate resignation following a catastrophic diplomatic error. Okay News reports that the controversy centers on Peter Mandelson, the former British envoy to Washington, who incredibly bypassed his background security vetting before taking the prestigious job.

Why it matters? United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer is under clamor to relinquish his official post, this is a clamor by UK nationals due to his appointment of Peter Madelson as UK envoy to Washington, the appointed did not pass security test and he is linked to United States late sex offender Epstein the scrutiny which is ongoing popularly known as Epstein File, I think this is the right move, why will someone of questionable character be given such appointment?

But the real issue is how a systematic failure of the state allowed this to happen at the highest levels of government. Foreign ministry officials apparently bypassed standard protocols. They ignored explicit recommendations from the United Kingdom Security Vetting agency. Olly Robbins, the top civil servant in the foreign ministry, has now quit. Starmer completely lost confidence in him. Senior Minister Darren Jones confirmed that neither the Prime Minister nor his foreign minister knew about the failed checks until Tuesday evening. It is an absolute mess.

What people in the streets are saying is that Starmer betrayed national security. Opposition Conservative Party Leader Kemi Badenoch took to social media to explicitly demand his exit. The Washington ambassador role is critical for managing the special relationship with President Donald Trump. It oversees massive trade negotiations and diplomatic operational budgets that easily run into billions, representing huge public funds that sometimes scale over ₦1,500,000,000 (USD $1,000,000 at ₦1,500/$1).

Here is the kicker… Mandelson was actually arrested and released on bail in February. Police are currently investigating allegations of misconduct in public office. They suspect he leaked highly sensitive government documents to Jeffrey Epstein during the 2008 financial crash. Starmer originally fired Mandelson in September of last year after a United States Congressional committee exposed these deep ties. Official records show their relationship continued between 2009 and 2011. Mandelson reportedly even stayed at Epstein’s house in June 2009 while the convicted sex offender was sitting in a jail cell. Parliament is furious. Lawmakers have ordered the release of tens of thousands of vetting emails to uncover the whole truth.
