Following a reported police report establishing forgery of the senate rules which led to the inauguration of the 8th assembly, a group of senators has called for the resignation of senate president Bukola Saraki and his deputy Ike Ekweremadu.

According to PUNCH, group is planning to obtain the report and submit it to a Federal High Court that is already hearing a suit on the matter in Abuja. Members of the group include:

Senators Barnabas Gemade
Sen. Abu Ibrahim
Sen. Ahmad Lawan
Sen. Geore Akume
Sen. Kabir Marafa
Sen. Sulaiman Hunkuyi
Sen. Gbenga Ashafa

They asked the court to declare the inauguration of the 8th Senate as strange and irregular.

They are also asking the court to declare the Senate Standing Orders 2015 used for Saraki and Ekweremadu’s elections as inoperative, null and lack of legislative process.

Saraki however has dismissed their calls, saying the matter will be resolved during plenary tomorrow.
