Popular Nigerian Goalkeeper, Iboro Akpakpan Is Dead

Iboro Akpakpan, a top and highly respected Nigerian goalkeeper is dead. Details of his death haven’t been released.

According to OwnGoalNigeria, his death has put the Nigerian football league community into a period of mourning.

Popularly called “number one,” his present and former teammates have taken to social media to post their tributes to him.

Iboro formerly plays for Ocean Boys, Akwa United and Bayelsa United before stepping down to the Nigeria National League.

His last game was for Nigeria National League side Go Round FC. In April he saved the vital spot kick that helped the second division side shock their illustrious state rival 4-2 on penalties to lift the State FA Cup.
