The lawmakers made this known while considering the report of the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters on a Bill titled Sexual Harassment in Tertiary Education Institution Bill.

Some of the senators who spoke in favour of the report suggested stiffer penalties for sexual offenders, with others saying it should be extended beyond the tertiary institutions.
