WIKE

The Governor Rivers state Nigeria, Nyesom Wike, has commended the judiciary for standing by the truth to reinstating Eyitayo Jegede as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Ondo State election despite the intimidation and harassment by entrenched political interests.

The Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, released these statements made by the governor.

Reacting to the Court of Appeal judgment on the PDP candidate for Ondo State, Governor Wike advised Nigerians not to lose hope in the Judiciary no matter the level of attacks on judicial officers by the powers that be.

He said no matter the level of intimidation by the powers that be, there are resilient judicial officers who will always enthrone the rule of law in the country.

The governor urged the people of Ondo State to vote massively for Eyitayo Jegede so that he can continue with the giant development strides of outgoing governor Olusegun Mimiko.

He said “I wish Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), the PDP candidate, the best in the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State.

“Ondo people know that Eyitayo Jegede is their candidate and their only hope to continue the good works of Dr Olusegun Mimiko,” he added.

Governor Wike said “There have been pressures to make sure that the PDP scatters; so that at the end of the day, the PDP will not have a candidate in Ondo State”.

“Judiciary is the last hope of the common man and they have justified it today. We believe that the PDP has come to stay and the party will be more united,” he concluded”.
