Okey Emordi has announced his resignation as head coach of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Abia Warriors.

Emordi walked away with just two months in charge following the team’s 1-0 home defeat to El Kanemi Warriors on Sunday.

In a his resignation letter, the former Enyimba handler attributed his decision to the club’s poor run that has seen them lost four of their last seven games in the Nigeria topflight.

”Following series of poor results recorded recently by the club, I wish to resign my appointment as the Technical Adviser of Abia Warriors FC, thereby leading to the termination of the contract I entered with the club forthwith,” wrote Emordi.

Meanwhile, club chairman Emeka Inyama has acknowledged Emordi’s resignation, approving the Abdullahi Biffo as replacement with Patrick Nwaogu as his new assistant with immediate effect.

Biffo will lead Abia Warriors to Uyo where they will face Akwa United in Uyo in a Week 10 clash on Sunday. Abia Warriors are eight on the log with 11 points from eight games.
