2017 FIBA: Nigeria’s D’Tigresses Beat Senegal

Nigeria’s D’Tigresses on Wednesday night got the better of defending champions Senegal with a 58-54 win at the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Championship in Mali.

Both sides in Group B had already earned their berths in the quarter-finals prior to the game.

D’Tigresses won the first quarter 14-13, and at half time they were ahead 34-26.

The Nigerian ladies maintained their lead in the third and fourth quarters to emerge winners.

Star player Evelyn Akhator had another impressive outing as she netted 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Having beaten Mozambique, Congo, Egypt, Guinea, and Senegal, the Nigerians are now regarded as favourites to win the title.
