The Anambra state government has asked the Nigerian Army to halt its medical outreach in the state.

The medical outreach is being carried out in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo area of the state.

The development has sparked off rumours, especially on social media, that it was a ploy to infest people with diseases with many parents withdrawing their wards from school.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Anambra government noted that the decision became paramount so as to douse the tension and enlighten the people about the programme.

“To this end and to ensure no further escalation of the situation,”the statement read ,”His Excellency the Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has contacted the Army Authories and advised for immediate stoppage of the medical outreach until wide sensitization is conducted to reassure people of its intentions and benefits. The exercise has therefore been put on hold.”
