A fresh batch of Nigerians stranded in Libya has been brought back to the country just four days after 249 Nigerians returned.

The returnees, numbering 167, arrived the cargo wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja on Monday night.

They were made up of 146 male and 21 female passengers. Of these, two of them diagnosed with trauma-related ailments and one with a mental illness.

There to receive them and ease their transition into the society were the officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), led by the South-West zonal coordinator, Suleiman Yakubu.

According to NEMA, the returnees diagnosed with trauma-related illnesses have been stabilised while the mental case has been referred to an appropriate hospital for adequate treatment.

The Nigerian government, with the aid of the European Union, the IOM and other partners, has been able to repatriate hundreds of her citizens who were stranded in the North African country.

While receiving the returnees, Yakubu asked them to take advantage of the opportunities that abound in the country and should take their painful sojourn in Libya as lessons learnt.

“There’s nowhere like home and Nigeria is a peculiar nation that God has endowed with bountiful resources that everyone can harness and prosper,” he said.
