President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday wrote the Senate to seek the confirmation of Folashodun Sonubi as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

In his letter read by at Plenary by Senate President Bukola Saraki, Buhari stated, “In accordance with the provisions of section 81 sub section 2 of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN establishment act 2017, I have the pleasure to present Folashodun Adebisi Sonubi for confirmation as deputy governor of the central bank of Nigeria.

“Find as attached a copy of his curriculum vitae while looking forward for your usual expeditious approval.”

Shonubi is currently the Managing Director of the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc (NIBSS).

A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu on Friday stated that before being the headship of NIBBS in 2012, Shonubi had garnered decades of executive-level experience in financial service operations, notably as Executive Director at Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, Renaissance Securities Nigeria Ltd and Ecobank Nigeria Plc.
