MTN Files Fresh Suit Against FG, Demands N3bn As Damages

The MTN Nigeria Group has filed another suit at the Federal High Court, Lagos, challenging N242 billion and $1.3b import duties and withholding tax demanded from it by the Federal Government.

The telecommunication firm is demanding N3billion as general and exemplary damages and legal costs from the Federal Government.

Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke had on Thursday adjourned the suit until December 3 for hearing after counsel said that motions have been filed and served on parties.

According to MTN in a suit, it filed on September 10, it challenged the legality of the Attorney-General of the Federation’s assessment of its import duties, withholding tax and value added tax to the tune of N242 billion and $1.3 billion.
