Hadi Sirika, Minister of State for Aviation, has faulted the claims by Mahmood Yakubu, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, that weather was not good for flight operations on the eve of the elections.

Okay Nigeria had reported that INEC chairman gave reasons why the commission had to shift elections by a week.

Mahmood Yakubu said during a stakeholder briefing in Abuja that the reasons for postponement was mainly logistical challenges faced in deploying human and material resources for the conduct of the elections which he mentioned bad weather.

However, Hadi Sirika through his official Twitter account claimed that it was untrue that weather was an excuse not to conduct elections.

He said, “INEC should say something else as weather was good for flight operations on the eve of elections, similarly all airports were directed to open 24 hours during the election period.”
