Xenophobia: Buhari finally reacts, sends Special envoy to South Africa

President Muhammadu Buhari has finally reacted to Xenophobic attacks on Nigerian citizens in South Africa.

Femi Adesina, special adivser to the president on media, disclosed in a statement to Okay.ng on Tuesday that a special envoy has been sent to South Africa.

He noted that the Special Envoy on-behalf of President Buhari will meet with President Cyril Ramaphosa to interact with his South African counterpart on the situation.

Adesina said that the Special Envoy is expected to arrive in Pretoria latest Thursday, September 5, 2019.

Okay.ng reports that the President had instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, to summon the South African High Commissioner to Nigeria and get a brief on the situation; express Nigeria’s displeasure over the treatment of her citizens; and assurance of the safety of their lives and property.
