Police arrest suspected criminals in Anambra and Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested 27 suspects for committing various offences across the state.

Parading the suspects, the state Commissioner of Police, Magaji Kontagora, explains that, the suspects committed crimes such as rape, kidnapping, armed robbery and fraud.

He told newsmen that, the police successfully rescued several kidnapped victims at various kidnapping dents in the state after gun duel with the kidnappers.

Okay.ng, obtained that the police had successfully arrested; Bashiru Sani of Helende village in Argungu local government area of the state and Sama’ila Umar of Argungu town with the sum of 31,600:00 naira counterfeit money of one thousand naira denomination.

He said all the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution accordingly after investigation.

Similarly, The Anambra state Police has paraded some suspects arrested in different places for various offences across the state.

Among them were a three man gang that killed a staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (IINEC) in Awka, Mr Osita Duruoha in September this year.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Echeng Echeng who briefed newsmen said On 28th September, the gang who specializes in snatching shuttle buses around Ifite-Awka pretended to be passengers and boarded a shuttle bus belonging and driven by the INEC Staff, on the pretense that they were going to Isuaniocha on an agreed fare of N3,000.

The suspects namely Nwobodo Samuel Obumneme, (male) aged 26 years, Malachi Chinedu Uzorchukwu (male) 28 years and Ifechinachi Ogechukwu ( male) aged 28 years had since confessed to the crime and will soon be charged to court.

The Commissioner also paraded a 20 year old man, Ekenedilichukwu Okeke who allegedly connived with his gang to kill his step mother, Mrs. Theresa Okeke who was an Accountant with National Population Commission, NPC, with the hope of transferring one million naira from her account, after he found out her password at No. 4 Umuzuocha, Awka.

The Commissioner of Police said that the suspects will soon be charged to court.
