Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has successfully concluded its highly impactful 2023 #NLNGChangeYourStory workshop, a dynamic initiative aimed at equipping journalists with state-of-the-art digital communication and social media skills.

From August 1st to August 3rd, 2023, the annual capacity-building workshop convened more than 25 journalists from diverse editorial sections in Abuja.

NLNG, a leading Nigerian energy company, fully sponsored the event, which focused on mobile and multimedia journalism, providing participants with a comprehensive learning experience.

During the workshop, Mr. Andy Odeh, NLNG’s General Manager of External Relations and Sustainable Development, emphasized NLNG’s unwavering commitment to empowering journalists with the tools and expertise necessary to effectively share stories that resonate with the Nigerian populace in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Mr. Odeh reiterated NLNG’s belief in cultivating symbiotic relationships with stakeholders, acknowledging their essential role in the company’s current and future accomplishments.

“The growth and triumph of NLNG’s stakeholders are inextricably tied to the company’s growth, and thus, capacity building remains a cornerstone of NLNG’s commitment to collective progress. NLNG’s dedication to capacity building is not mere rhetoric but a tangible commitment that bolsters the growth and success of both stakeholders and the nation. It is also in line with our vision of being a globally competitive LNG company helping to build a better Nigeria,” he said.

He further highlighted that NLNG’s pursuit of sustainability has led to the recognition of digital communication and social media as the future of the media. The #NLNGChangeYourStory workshop was initiated in 2015 with the participation of eight journalists.

The workshop, facilitated by seasoned journalist Mr. Dan Mason in collaboration with The Journalism Clinic, led by Mr. Taiwo Obe, proved to be transformative for the attending journalists.

These experts harnessed their extensive knowledge and experience to guide participants through the intricacies of digital communication and social media, enabling them to take charge of their narratives and shape the nation’s stories.

Since its inception in 2015, the #NLNGChangeYourStory workshop has empowered over 90 journalists, reinforcing their competencies in digital communication and social media.

This initiative stands as a testament to the transformative potential of cutting-edge training.

Journalists emerge equipped with the confidence and skills to embrace digital communication and social media, thereby contributing to a more informed and digitally savvy society.
