Educational and Scholarly Pursuits

Born in 1954 in Michika, Adamawa State, Tahir Mamman’s educational journey showcases his dedication to excellence. He earned an LL.B degree from Ahmadu Bello University in 1983 and was called to the Nigerian Law School in 1984. He pursued further studies, obtaining a master’s degree from the University of Warwick, England, in 1987, followed by a Ph.D. in 1990.

A Multifaceted Career

Tahir Mamman’s career spans academia, law, and governance. He served as a lecturer at the University of Maiduguri’s Faculty of Law and later became the Dean. His legal expertise extended to the judiciary in Adamawa State, where he served from 1974 to 1984. He played vital roles in the University of Maiduguri, including Head of the Department of Common Law and Dean of Students’ Affairs. Mamman’s commitment to education is evident through his contributions to the establishment of Adamawa State University.

Pioneering Educational Transformation

Mamman’s impact on education is undeniable. As the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School from 2005 to 2013, he played a crucial role in shaping legal education in Nigeria. Currently serving as the Vice Chancellor of Baze University, Abuja, Mamman continues to foster academic excellence and mentor future leaders.

Political Engagement and Leadership

Mamman entered politics in 2014, post his tenure as Director-General of the Nigerian Law School. He contested in the APC governorship primary in Adamawa State, marking his commitment to public service. His political journey continued as the Acting National Vice Chairman for the Northeast in the APC’s National Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) in 2020.

Awards and Recognition

Mamman’s accomplishments have earned him recognition. He was conferred the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 2015 and received the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) from the Federal Government of Nigeria.
