MediaTek, the renowned global fabless semiconductor company powering nearly 2 billion connected devices annually, has announced a strategic collaboration with Airtel Nigeria, a leading telecommunications service provider.

The collaboration aims to bolster technological advancements and elevate mobile connectivity nationwide. This initiative will integrate millions of individuals into the digital economy, thereby revolutionizing mobile connectivity across Nigeria.

One of the focal points of the collaboration is MediaTek’s T750-powered Customer Premises Equipment (CPE), an innovative technology that enhances internet connectivity.

This groundbreaking advancement enables users to access high-speed 5G networks from the comfort of their homes, opening up avenues for remote work, gaming, online education, and entertainment streaming like never before.

The T750 promises remarkable out-of-the-box 5G speeds, reaching an impressive 4.7Gbps. This speed competes with or surpasses the performance of traditional fixed-line services.

Leveraging existing cellular infrastructure, this technology aims to circumvent the expenses associated with cable or fiber installation.

Rami Osman, the Director for Corporate Sales and Marketing at MediaTek Middle East and Africa, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “Our collaboration with Airtel Nigeria is geared towards enhancing high-speed internet access through cutting-edge chipsets. We are committed to offering a wider range of premium devices and flagship solutions while supporting the transition from feature phones to smartphones and exploring innovative AI-IoT solutions. This partnership will drive digital inclusion, revolutionize connectivity, and contribute to sustainable development goals in Nigeria.”

Ismail Adeshina, the Director of Marketing at Airtel Nigeria, emphasized the significance of the collaboration with MediaTek, highlighting the affordability of connectivity it would bring to Nigerians.

He emphasized, “Our commitment to innovation is evident through our early adoption of 5G technology. We are proactively investing in this technology to improve connectivity, address coverage and cost challenges, and make 5G devices more accessible across Nigeria.”

MediaTek, known for powering globally recognized brands, remains dedicated to delivering state-of-the-art innovations through its diverse product portfolio, including solutions for smartphones, smart devices, automotive technology, satellite connectivity, and wearables, among others.
