Former Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has refuted recent reports suggesting that he intends to leave the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The denial comes in response to statements made by Basil Ejidike, the chairman of APC in Anambra, indicating Obiano’s possible switch to the ruling party.

In a statement released by Tony Nezianya, Obiano’s spokesperson, on Tuesday, the former governor affirmed his dedication and loyalty to APGA.

Nezianya highlighted that Obiano not only championed the ideologies and principles of APGA during his tenure but also worked tirelessly to promote the party’s agenda, ensuring its continued success.

“It is, therefore, evident that I, Chief Willie Obiano, have no plans to abandon APGA or join another political party,” the statement reads.

“I have no plan now or in the future to leave the party. There is misguided speculation in a section of the media that I plan to jump ship.”

Obiano took the opportunity to address Governor Chukwuma Soludo, urging him to fulfill his promise to pay disengagement allowances to all political appointees who served during his tenure.

He emphasized that this gesture would be a fitting way to conclude their “glorious service” and reward them for their contributions to his electoral success.

“If you cannot re-engage them, you can at least pay their outstanding allowances,” Obiano urged Governor Soludo.
