The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has strongly denied media reports suggesting that an elderly female worshipper slumped and died during one of its church programmes.

The church clarified that the worshipper passed away at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, Ogun State.

Contrary to reports, Collins Edomaruse, the spokesperson for Daniel Olukoya, the general overseer of MFM, explained that the deceased came to the church’s auditorium in the Ibafo area of Ogun looking feeble.

The church clarified that she was not present for a residential program like ‘deliverance.’

In a statement released on Thursday, Edomaruse stated, “On physical observation inside an ambulance, we recorded pallor+++… that she was pale (short of blood). She looked cachexic and emaciated, hence blood pressure was quickly checked inside the ambulance; result: B/P71/55 P115, Temp 36.oc, because of the pallor+++ that requires immediate blood.”

The spokesperson mentioned that the deceased was rushed to a clinic within the church before being taken to OOUTH. The hospital praised the church for its swift action in bringing the sick person over.

“The ambulance driver and a nurse were instructed to rush her to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, where urgent intervention and investigations could be carried out. The report received from the nurse at the teaching hospital indicated that the deceased was attended to in the ambulance as an emergency for preliminary investigations. She later gave up there and her remains were deposited at the morgue of Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital,” the statement explained.

The ministry emphasized that it regularly provides first aid to worshippers in need and may not be able to ascertain the medical situation of everyone within its facility.

The church concluded that the claims of the unfortunate demise of a worshipper being caused by the ministry are a result of ignorance and misrepresentation of facts.

“The church provides a covenant platform of divine encounter and teaches the worshippers how to connect with the God of the Bible. This has provided tremendous testimonies over the years,” the statement concluded.
