Lagos, the vibrant and bustling metropolis in Nigeria, has been recognized as the 19th best city to visit in the world, according to a ranking by Time Out, a renowned publisher of guides and magazines.

The accolade places Lagos among the top global destinations, highlighting its unique charm and appeal to visitors.

The ranking, compiled by Time Out through a survey of over 20,000 city dwellers worldwide and insights from its network of editors, considered various factors such as food quality and affordability, culture, nightlife, overall ambiance, community vibes, access to green spaces, and historical sites.

Lagos, alongside other African cities like Cape Town (2nd) in South Africa and Accra (44th) in Ghana, stood out on the global list, showcasing the continent’s diverse and attractive destinations.

The report encourages global citizens to explore Lagos, describing it as a city with something for everyone, from the mainland to Lekki. It recognizes the city’s ongoing expansion, highlighting projects like the Eko Atlantic City, and points out the booming developments in areas like Epe, north of Lekki Lagoon.

The report also sheds light on Lagosians’ positive sentiments, with 96% expressing happiness, 98% finding Lagos beautiful, and a 92% friendliness rating. It emphasizes attractions such as Victoria Island’s resorts, food spots, and nightlife, Ikeja’s Kuti’s Bistro for delicious cuisine, and Oniru Beach as a relaxing spot.

Lagos’ inclusion on this list stands in contrast to a 2023 report by the Economist Intelligence Unit, which ranked it as the fourth worst city to live in globally. The recent recognition by Time Out underscores the city’s resilience, vibrant culture, and the multitude of experiences it offers.
