The Federal Government of Nigeria has categorically refuted rumors circulating regarding the establishment of foreign military bases within the country’s borders.

In a statement issued by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, the government denounced the allegations as false and urged the public to disregard them entirely.

According to Minister Idris, there have been no discussions between the Federal Government and any foreign country regarding the establishment of foreign military bases in Nigeria.

“The Federal Government is not in any such discussion with any foreign country,” the statement clarified.

Furthermore, Minister Idris emphasized that the Nigerian government has not received any proposals from any country “on the establishment of any foreign military bases in Nigeria”.

He said the Nigerian government already enjoys foreign cooperation in tackling ongoing security challenges, adding that President Bola Tinubu remains committed to deepening these partnerships, with the goal of achieving the national security objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
