The Abia House of Assembly has issued a stern warning to the Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company (IVM) over an alleged breach of contract regarding the production of vehicles for the lawmakers.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Emmanuel Emeruwa, addressed journalists on Thursday, expressing frustration over the delayed delivery of the vehicles, which were supposed to be provided one year after the lawmakers’ inauguration.
Emeruwa emphasized that the preference for IVM vehicles was part of Governor Alex Otti’s initiative to promote local content and support domestic manufacturing.
However, despite the company receiving full payment for the vehicles, it has failed to fulfill its contractual obligations.
“So far, Innoson has not been able to produce or perform its own side of the agreement. At this point, we are on the verge of terminating that contract and asking for our money back if he doesn’t perform within the next 15 days,” said Emeruwa.
“This house is very serious about it, and they cannot continue pacifying us after one year.”
