President Bola Tinubu has expressed grievances over the potential damage from planned protests over economic hardship, but assured that his administration is not afraid of demonstrations. He emphasized that the government is working to address the plight of citizens and revive the economy.

Speaking at a meeting with traditional rulers at the State House in Abuja, Tinubu stated that the nation’s economy is on a gradual path of recovery. He acknowledged the hardships faced by citizens and pledged to increase support for their recovery.

The President also urged the royal fathers to communicate the government’s genuine intentions to deliver on its promises of Renewed Hope. He highlighted efforts to distribute resources, such as fertilizer and rice, to support citizens.

The meeting was attended by prominent traditional rulers, including the Sultan of Sokoto and the Ooni of Ife, as well as government officials, including the Minister of Finance and the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.

The planned protests, slated for August 1-10, have raised concerns about potential disruptions and damages.
