Three Nigerian women have qualified for the final of the Women’s Long Jump event at the ongoing Olympic Games in Paris.

Leading the charge is Ese Brume, who recorded an impressive leap of 6.76 meters. She is closely followed by Ruth Usoro, who jumped 6.68 meters, and Prestina Ochonogor, with a jump of 6.65 meters.

This historic moment marks the first time in Olympic history that three Nigerian athletes have advanced to the Long Jump final. Out of the 12 competitors who will contest for the gold, silver, and bronze medals, a quarter of the field will be represented by Nigerians, showcasing the country’s strength in athletics.

Ese Brume, born on January 20, 1996, stands out as a seasoned competitor. She is the reigning Commonwealth champion, a three-time African senior champion, and holds a personal best of 7.17 meters (23 ft 6+1⁄4 in). Brume’s accolades include the Commonwealth Games record, the African junior record, and the African record in the Long Jump. She is a two-time medalist at the World Athletics Championships, an Olympic bronze medalist, and a five-time African junior champion in athletics.
