The Supreme Court has reaffirmed the re-election of Bayelsa State Governor, Duoye Diri, dismissing the appeal filed by Timipre Sylva, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The five-member panel of the Supreme Court unanimously ruled in favor of Governor Diri, validating his victory in the November 11, 2023, election.

The APC candidate had challenged the outcome of the election, but the Supreme Court’s decision has put the matter to rest, confirming Governor Diri’s mandate to lead Bayelsa State.

This ruling brings an end to the legal battle over the governorship seat, allowing Governor Diri to focus on governing the state without further distraction.
