The Delta State Government is taking proactive measures to safeguard residents from the impending flood, warning those living in coastal and flood-prone areas to relocate to higher grounds.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has set up a high-powered flood management committee, led by Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, to tackle the situation.

The government is setting up camps in Asaba, Kwale, Patani, Ozoro, and Otu-Jeremi for displaced residents, essential amenities such as mattresses, food, electricity, water, and medical supplies will be provided while school children will continue their education in the camps.

The Oborevwori administration promises to protect and care for all residents, ensuring their safety and well-being. The government urges residents to relocate to the nearest camps to avoid the flood’s impact.

The Flood Management Committee, in collaboration with the State Emergency Management Agency and the National Emergency Management Agency, is working tirelessly to inform coastal communities about the impending flood and necessary relocation.
