The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced on Friday that it has successfully restored bulk power supply to the Gombe-Damaturu-Maiduguri 330 kilovolt transmission line.

This follows weeks of darkness caused by the vandalism of a key tower along the line on September 22, 2024.

In a statement issued by TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah, the company confirmed that repairs were completed, and power was fully restored to the region around 2:01 pm on Thursday, October 31, 2024.

“The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored full power supply through the Gombe-Damaturu-Maiduguri 330kV transmission line,” the statement read.

“Power supply was fully restored on the Gombe-Damaturu line about 7:25 pm on the 30th, and on the Damaturu-Maiduguri (Molai) part of the line, supply was restored yesterday, October 31, 2024, around 2:01 pm.

“Recall that tower 372, along the 330kV transmission line, was vandalized on September 22, 2024. The vandalized tower was rebuilt, and the stringing of the line was completed on the 23rd of October 2024, at about 12:48 pm.

“TCN was, however, unable to immediately restore bulk power supply through the line due to the vandalism of the Ugwuaji-Apir transmission line. Power supply has, however, been fully restored along the Gombe-Damaturu-Maiduguri 330kV transmission line.”

On Wednesday, TCN restored power supply to Lafia, Makurdi, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, and Gombe after the successful repair of the transmission network.
