The Lagos State Police Command has arrested the owner of three dogs allegedly responsible for the death of a security guard at Pinnock Beach Estate in Lekki.

A video showing the dogs roaming freely around the bloodied body of the guard went viral on social media on Tuesday, drawing widespread attention and outrage.

According to reports, the dogs had escaped from their owner’s property within the estate and attacked the security guard, leading to his death.

The graphic video captured the dogs wandering around the guard’s lifeless body, prompting swift public demand for accountability.

Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos Police, confirmed the arrest on X (formerly Twitter), where he shared that the dog owner is now in police custody.

“Dog owner has been arrested and is in our custody,” Hundeyin stated, posting images detailing Nigeria’s legal provisions on manslaughter in relation to the case.
