In a major boost for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the upcoming Ondo State governorship election, three gubernatorial candidates have stepped down and endorsed his re-election bid.

Dr. Ajibola Falaye, Hon. Jenyo Ataunko, and Olaide Ibrahim, representing the Accord Party, National Rescue Movement (NRM), and African Democratic Congress (ADC) respectively, announced their decision during a solidarity visit to Aiyedatiwa on Thursday.

The endorsement was confirmed by Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Chief Press Secretary to the governor.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Dr. Ajibola Falaye highlighted Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to public service and his performance in office as key reasons for their support.

“We have been watching him, and his doors are always open to all,” Falaye stated. He praised the governor’s inclusive governance, focus on security, and infrastructural development.

“The state has been experiencing relative peace under his watch, which reflects his commitment to safeguarding the lives of our people,” Falaye said. He added that the candidates share the governor’s progressive vision and believe his administration aligns with their goals for Ondo State.

Falaye emphasized the governor’s tangible achievements, noting, “We see the infrastructural development that has taken place even within this short period. This Saturday, we will turn our commitment into votes. We will vote for continuity in Ondo State.”

In his response, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude for the endorsements, calling it a testament to the goodwill and collaboration among the candidates.

“I didn’t call for this, but I am grateful that my colleagues in the race have voluntarily identified with my mandate and are ready to mobilize their supporters to vote for the APC,” Aiyedatiwa said.

Describing the decision as an act of statesmanship, the governor urged the candidates and their supporters to turn out in full force on election day. “There’s no time left. I appeal to you all to encourage your members to come out in full force on Saturday and cast their votes for the APC.”
