Stanley Nwabali, goalkeeper for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, has announced the passing of his father.
The Chippa United star shared the sad news on his Instagram story on Friday morning, expressing his grief with a tearful emoji and the message, “Rest in peace, dad.”
Nwabali did not disclose the cause of his father’s death but posted the announcement just hours after leading the Super Eagles to a 1-1 draw against Benin Republic in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Thursday night in Abidjan.
The loss could see Nwabali miss Nigeria’s next AFCON qualifier against Rwanda in Uyo as he takes time to mourn his father.
