UNITED STATES — The United States Department of State issued mandatory travel and visa guidelines for international fans attending the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The guidance was released to outline the entry procedures for the tournament scheduled to take place across North America from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
Okay News reports that the United States Department of State activated the FIFA Priority Appointment Scheduling System to manage B1/B2 visitor visa interviews for confirmed ticket holders. Applicants are required to submit an opt in form through their FIFA account and complete the online DS-160 application form before they can access the priority scheduling feature.
The Federal Government of Nigeria stated in February 2026 that it was engaging the United States through diplomatic channels to seek the removal of visa restrictions. Nigerians remain subject to limited entry into the United States under Presidential Proclamation 10998 which has been in effect since January 1, 2026.
Visitors from 42 countries participating in the Visa Waiver Programme are eligible to apply for entry through the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation. All other foreign travelers must possess a valid U.S. visitor visa and a passport that remains valid for at least six months beyond their intended period of stay.
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, commented on the preparations for the global event during a previous address at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. “This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to showcase the beauty and the greatness of America. And we can’t wait to welcome soccer fans from all over the globe,” Trump said.
The tournament will feature 48 national teams with matches staged in 11 cities in the United States, two cities in Canada, and three cities in Mexico. The final match of the competition is scheduled to be held at the New York or New Jersey venue.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the first edition to be co-hosted by three different nations.
