The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) and Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo) have donated medical equipment to the Benjamin Olowojebutu Foundation (BOF) to enhance healthcare outreach in underserved communities across Nigeria’s South-West, North-Central, and South-South regions.

This initiative will empower the non-profit organization to conduct nearly 5,000 fibroid and hernia surgeries, along with dental procedures for an additional 5,000 individuals.

Speaking on the donation, SNEPCo Managing Director, Roland Adams, emphasized that the partnership with NNPC and BOF is part of the company’s ongoing social investments aimed at improving lives across Nigeria. Represented by the Health Manager and Transformation, Dr. Ajike Oladoyin, he reaffirmed SNEPCo’s commitment to expanding healthcare accessibility for Nigerians, particularly in medically underserved regions.

“The donation is a testament of our dedication to corporate social responsibility and the commitment of NNPC Ltd to enhancing healthcare delivery in Nigeria,” said Oluwaseyi Omotowa, Chief Upstream Investment Officer of NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS).

Represented by Deputy External Relations Manager, Edith Lawson, Omotowa highlighted that the initiative aligns with NNPC’s broader goal of fostering sustainable development and empowering communities across the country.

“We understand the challenges faced by healthcare providers, and through this contribution, we hope to alleviate some of these burdens and enable healthcare professionals to deliver even more efficient and effective care,” he added.

Grateful for the support, Dr. Benjamin Olowojebutu, the head of BOF, stated that the donation would significantly aid the foundation’s planned healthcare outreaches for the year, which will take place in Kwara (North-Central), Ekiti (South-West), Ebonyi, and Bayelsa (South-East and South-South respectively).

The social investments of NNPC-SNEPCo and its co-venture partners—Total Energies, ExxonMobil, and Nigeria Agip Exploration—have made significant impacts across the country. The partnership has improved lives in internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in North-East Nigeria, rebuilt hospital wards, and provided scholarships for secondary, undergraduate, and postgraduate students.

Last year, over 6,000 people benefited from an eye-care outreach as part of the NNPC-SNEPCo Vision First initiative in Bariga Local Government Area of Lagos State. The initiative also saw the donation of medical equipment to health centers and charity homes in Badagry, Lagos State, and Oguta in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
