The Federal Government and Katsina State Government have jointly pledged to accelerate completion of the long-awaited Kano-Katsina federal highway, along with four additional critical road infrastructure projects across the state.

This commitment was revealed during an official visit by the Minister of State for Works, Barrister Muhammad Bello Goranyo, to the Katsina Government House. Deputy Governor Malam Faruk Lawal Jobe welcomed the minister, representing Governor Dikko Umaru Radda at the meeting.

During discussions, Deputy Governor Jobe emphasized the strategic significance of the Katsina-Kano highway development, characterizing it as a game-changing infrastructure initiative with potential to revitalize commerce and strengthen security measures throughout Nigeria’s North-West region.

“The State Government views this project with particular urgency due to its potential to stimulate economic growth and address regional security challenges,” Jobe stated. He added that improved transportation infrastructure would facilitate more efficient movement of goods and services while enhancing government capacity to respond to security situations.

The collaboration between federal and state authorities signals renewed determination to address longstanding infrastructure gaps that have hampered development in the region. Both governments indicated that project timelines would be closely monitored to ensure timely delivery of these vital transportation arteries.

The infrastructure push comes as part of broader efforts to strengthen economic resilience and improve quality of life for residents in Nigeria’s northwestern states, where enhanced connectivity is viewed as essential for sustainable development and regional integration.
