Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has emphasized the urgent need to restructure Nigeria to ensure citizens reap the full benefits of democracy. Speaking on Tuesday in Yola during a multi-party coalition meeting, Atiku expressed concerns over the nation’s current trajectory, stating that it is no longer on the right path.

The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) 2023 presidential candidate arrived at Yola International Airport via private jet at 12:48 pm and was received by Senator Ishaku Abbo. From there, his convoy proceeded to the American University of Nigeria hotel, where the gathering took place.

Addressing attendees, Atiku stressed the necessity of a new movement to address the country’s challenges. “If we fail to act now, our children may become slaves in their own homeland,” he warned. While he refrained from delving into current political discussions, he hinted at breaking his silence soon regarding his political stance and ongoing national issues.

He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and prioritize the nation’s welfare, describing the emerging movement as a potential solution to the country’s problems. Atiku also commended Senator Abbo for organizing the event, noting that the diverse political representation signaled a widespread desire for change ahead of the 2027 elections.

Senator Abbo, speaking at the well-attended meeting, declared unwavering support for Atiku, stating, “Wherever you go, we will follow. You are our party, our symbol.”
