Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, undertook an official condolence visit to Plateau State on Sunday, subsequent to the recent killings in the Bokkos area. Arriving in Jos, the state capital, from Abuja, Mr. Obi conveyed his profound sadness regarding the “senseless killings,” asserting the unacceptability of such violence within the nation’s borders.

During his visit, Mr. Obi proceeded to Bokkos, where he directly engaged with victims of the attacks, including displaced children and other affected persons. He expressed his deep concern for the devastation witnessed in the communities, reiterating the fundamental right of all Nigerians to live without fear within their own country. Mr. Obi extended his sincere condolences to the bereaved families and communities who have suffered irreparable losses due to this tragic violence.

In a demonstration of tangible support, Mr. Obi disclosed that the Obidient Movement had previously established a borehole to ensure access to clean water for the IDP camp and the surrounding community. Furthermore, during this visit, he officially announced a donation of N7.5 million. These funds are specifically allocated to provide essential facilities for the displaced children, support their continued education, and address the ongoing needs of those impacted by the crisis.

Mr. Obi emphasized the critical need for effective leadership and compassion during this challenging period, affirming his solidarity with Plateau State and his commitment to supporting all endeavors aimed at achieving peace, justice, and recovery. He offered his prayers for the repose of the deceased and expressed hope for the strength, solace, and unity of the affected communities as they work towards rebuilding their lives.
