A building collapse has occurred on Oremeta Street in the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos, sending panic through the neighbourhood on Saturday morning.

The affected structure, identified as an uncompleted four-storey building, houses the well-known EqualRight Restaurant and reportedly caved in at about 8am.

An eyewitness who spoke to Okay.ng said several people are feared trapped beneath the rubble, raising concerns over potential casualties. “It was sudden. People were inside. We are still hearing voices under the debris,” the witness said.

Security personnel and emergency responders have since arrived at the scene to begin rescue operations.

However, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has not yet issued an official statement regarding the cause or scale of the incident at the time of filing this report.

The situation remains tense as efforts continue to locate and rescue those trapped within the remains of the collapsed building.
