The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has officially extended the deadline for motorists to comply with the tinted glass permit requirement, moving the enforcement grace period to August 12, 2025. This development follows extensive public feedback and aims to make the permit application process more accessible and citizen-friendly.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, announced the extension on Saturday through a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi. The statement emphasized the Force’s dedication to “transparent, inclusive, and citizen-focused policing,” highlighting ongoing technical and policy reviews designed to improve the system.

The extension is intended to provide time for “enhancements and refinements” to both physical and digital application procedures. These improvements include better verification mechanisms and efforts to reduce delays that have frustrated applicants.

“The Force has not ignored the voices of Nigerians. Rather, these voices have been instrumental in guiding ongoing reviews of the process to ensure it remains user-friendly, secure, and accessible to all,” the statement read.

Motorists are urged to apply or renew their tinted glass permits exclusively through the official online portal and to report any cases of extortion or unauthorized charges encountered during the process.

The Nigeria Police reaffirmed their commitment to public safety, digital innovation, and service delivery improvements, calling for continued public cooperation as reforms proceed.
