Ogun State Government has signed partnership agreements with two renewable energy service companies to produce about 1,100 megawatts of solar power to boost industrial growth.

The deals involve Tranos Contracting Limited, which will build a 600MW solar panel and battery manufacturing plant, and Vision Gas and Power Limited, which will set up a 500MW solar panel facility with plans to expand to 1GW.

The agreements were signed in Abuja during the Nigeria Renewable Energy Innovation Forum (NREIF) 2025, held from October 14 to 15, under the supervision of Vice President Kashim Shettima on behalf of President Bola Tinubu.

The forum, organised by the Federal Ministry of Power in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), and the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE), focused on promoting local manufacturing in Nigeria’s renewable energy sector.

Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, said the projects will position Ogun as a hub for clean energy innovation and sustainable industrialisation.

He added that the state aims to attract more investments that support economic diversification, job creation, and environmental sustainability.

“These partnerships spotlight Ogun State as a leader in innovation, industrial readiness, and inclusive growth,” Akinmade said. “By expanding local capacity for clean energy production, we are reducing dependence on imports and laying a foundation for industrial development.”

The initiative aligns with Nigeria’s renewable energy policy and supports efforts to transition toward locally driven power solutions.
