President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo on his re-election, describing the result as “an affirmation of visionary leadership” and promising closer collaboration between the Federal Government and Anambra State.

Soludo was declared the winner of Saturday’s off-cycle governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after securing victories across all 21 Local Government areas. In a statement released on Sunday, Tinubu commended voters, security agencies, and INEC for ensuring a peaceful exercise. He also urged Soludo to be magnanimous in victory.

“The people of Anambra State, the security agencies, and INEC deserve commendation for the peaceful and successful conduct of the governorship election. Professor Soludo’s re-election is a testament to his visionary leadership and the progress the state has made under his guidance,” Tinubu said.

Okay News reports that the President also praised Soludo, whom he referred to as “Mr Solution,” for bringing discipline, grace, and a fresh perspective to governance, noting that his administration has exemplified accountability, transparency, and prudent management of resources. Tinubu highlighted his visit to Anambra in May, during which he inaugurated projects executed by Soludo’s administration, calling the experience remarkable and memorable.

He assured Soludo of continued support from the Federal Government and encouraged him to seek cooperation from political opponents. Tinubu also commended the new INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, urging the commission to maintain high standards in future elections to strengthen Nigeria’s electoral system.

Soludo’s victory reinforces APGA’s two-decade dominance in Anambra politics, making him the third governor in the state’s history—after Peter Obi and Willie Obiano—to win a second term. Reports indicate Soludo secured over 420,000 votes against his closest rival from the APC.

“This victory demonstrates the strength of our political system, where diligent and progressive leadership can prevail,” Tinubu added, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the state and the Federal Government for continued development.
