Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has expressed joy following the release of her brother, Samuel Ojeogwu, popularly known as Sammy West, from police detention. Ojeogwu had been arrested and charged with criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation, and theft, in connection with a petition reportedly filed by Daniels’ estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.
Confirming the development on her Instagram page on Tuesday, Daniels shared a video expressing relief and happiness over her brother’s release. She wrote, “And my brother is out. So, one battle down.”
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command had arraigned Ojeogwu before an Abuja court on November 6, 2025, following the petition received on October 28, 2025. The Abuja Magistrate Court later granted him bail of ₦5 million, secured by a legal team led by human rights lawyer Marshal Abubakar. The matter has been adjourned to November 28 for further hearing.
In the video, Daniels reflected on the overwhelming support she received during her brother’s detention. She said emotionally, “Guys, do you know it’s really such a big deal to be loved by a lot of people? Wait, can I brag about that? Can I actually brag that I’m loved by so many people?”
She continued, “See, the kind of love I received this period makes me emotional. I feel good. I feel good. Jokes on you, Ned, because you thought people would hate me. I have my mothers, my fathers, my uncles, my brothers, my sisters, my friends, my fans, my online aunties and online daddies — everybody fighting for me.”
Daniels also thanked her fans and well-wishers for their solidarity, adding, “Thank you, guys. I can’t even start mentioning names.”
Activist Omoyele Sowore shared a separate video on Monday showing friends and well-wishers, including actress Mercy Johnson, celebrating Ojeogwu’s release.
The release comes amid rising tension in Daniels’ marriage. The actress had previously shared a viral video expressing emotional distress over her brother’s detention, while reports of marital troubles with Nwoko have continued to circulate. Nwoko has denied allegations of domestic violence, attributing the situation to Daniels’ alleged drug and alcohol use.
