The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has praised Marconi NG EPC Limited for strengthening Nigeria’s local content framework, Okay News reports that.
The board said in a Friday statement that the oil and gas service company is positioning itself as a major industry player in West Africa, with local content highlighted as a key driver.
The statement signed by NCDMB’s General Manager of Corporate Communications, Dr Obinna Ezeobi, noted that the company has pledged cost-effective and timely project delivery, with oil and gas identified as a focus area.
NCDMB led journalists on a tour of Port Harcourt-based facilities on Wednesday where Marconi reaffirmed its commitment to local capacity expansion, stressing energy projects as a national priority.
The firm, which acquired Saipem Contracting Nigeria’s Rumuolumeni Yard in May 2025, said the facility spans over one million square metres with a 330-metre jetty that enhances its operational capacity, emphasising infrastructure development.
Chief Executive Officer Gian Fabio Del Cioppo said the yard can fabricate over 25,000 tonnes of heavy structures annually and is equipped to handle complex EPC projects onshore and offshore, noting fabrication capacity as a competitive advantage.
He added that Marconi has the equipment, technical strength, and human resources to deliver quality work at competitive rates while aligning with the Presidential Directives on Local Content and the NOGICD Act, stressing industry compliance.
Del Cioppo urged government and industry operators to remain firm in sustaining local content gains recorded in the past 15 years to boost economic growth and job creation, focusing on economic development.
During the tour, Nigerian Content Manager Dr David Editang said Marconi retained long-serving local experts and maintains the capacity to fabricate, store, and load out completed structures via three jetties, underscoring workforce capacity.
He added that the firm recently commenced steel cutting for subsea structures in a major offshore project and has contributed to projects such as Egina, Usan, Akpo, and Train 7, highlighting project execution.
Ezeobi stated that Marconi is now positioned to operate across the full oil and gas value chain, including land, swamp, shallow waters, and deep offshore, reflecting value chain expansion.
He said the facility tour aligns with Sections 67 and 70(n) of the NOGICD Act, which mandate communication and capacity building, stressing stakeholder engagement.
Ezeobi said NCDMB maintains strong relationships with media stakeholders and hosts annual engagements in Port Harcourt, Lagos, and Abuja to deepen industry understanding, pointing to media collaboration.
