Senate President Godswill Akpabio has assured Nigerians that banditry and other security challenges will be defeated in 2026 and beyond. He called for collective efforts to build a peaceful and united nation.

Okay News reports that Akpabio made the statement during a prayer and fasting service at the Methodist Church Nigeria, Cathedral of Unity, in Ukana Ikot Ntuen, Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, southern Nigeria.

He urged citizens to set aside differences and embrace peace within families, states, and the country. National development thrives only in peaceful environments.

“I want to wish all Nigerians a very prosperous and peaceful new year. I want to assure all Nigerians that the new year will usher in renewed peace in our country,” Akpabio stated.

“For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten son to be born as a man so as to redeem mankind. By the reason of the birth of Jesus Christ, Nigerians will be redeemed from banditry and insurgency in the new year and beyond,” he added.

Akpabio appealed for support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s administration, regardless of political affiliations. Renewed international partnerships will aid victory over insecurity.

He emphasised family unity as the foundation for national progress. Selfless support and love strengthen society.

Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, the Senate President’s wife, encouraged family members to overcome biases. Living in harmony fosters collective success.

The message reflects optimism amid ongoing security concerns. It promotes collaboration for stability and development.

Akpabio’s assurance aligns with government efforts to address banditry. It underscores peace as essential for Nigeria’s advancement.
