Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, the Governor of Anambra State in south eastern Nigeria, and his wife, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, on Friday, December 26, 2025, marked their thirty three years of marriage with a solemn Thanksgiving Mass held at their country home in Isuofia, a town in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The celebration attracted family members, close friends, senior government officials, members of the Anambra State civil service, community leaders, and well wishers, all of whom gathered to honour the couple’s long standing marital union.
Okay News reports that the Thanksgiving Mass was officiated by His Eminence, Peter Cardinal Okpaleke, the Catholic Bishop of the Ekwulọbịa Diocese, who led prayers of gratitude and blessings for the governor and his family in a deeply spiritual atmosphere.
In his homily, Cardinal Okpaleke urged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith and dependence on God at all times. He also encouraged young couples to draw lessons from the Soludos’ marriage, describing it as a model of endurance, faith, and commitment.
Speaking during the event, Governor Soludo expressed heartfelt appreciation to his wife and to everyone who had stood by their family over the years. He reflected on the journey of their marriage, stressing that patience, mutual understanding, and shared values were essential pillars for sustaining a peaceful family life.
The governor later took to his official Facebook page on Saturday, December 27, 2025, where he wrote, “Today marks a special day in our home. Thirty-three years ago, I had the privilege of marrying the love of my life, Nono. You are not just my partner; you are my best friend, my confidante and my everything.
“As we celebrate this milestone, I am reminded of the countless memories, laughter and tears we’ve shared. Your love and support mean the world to me. Here is to many more years of love, joy and adventure together!
“Happy 33rd wedding anniversary, my darling Nono. I love you more today than yesterday, but less than tomorrow.
“This celebration is not just about our marriage; it’s about the community that has supported us every step of the way. We are truly blessed to have such a strong foundation built on love, faith and service.”
In a separate statement issued on Saturday, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, founder of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo initiative, shared her reflections on the milestone, noting that the couple renewed their vows in prayer before God.
She said, “Today, surrounded by friends, loved ones and our six beautiful children, we knelt before God to renew our marriage vows. In prayers, we have asked Almighty God, who established this holy union 33 years ago, to guide us more strongly into it.
“It’s been 33 years since I made the best decision of my life – to do life with this my guy. Thirty-three years, and it feels like we just began. I’m blessed to have you as my best friend, confidant and loyal partner. And if there’s a life after this one, I’ll still do this sweet race with you again and again. Happy wedding anniversary to us.”
Earlier, the Catholic Bishop of the Nnewi Diocese, Most Reverend Jonas Benson Okoye, while addressing the congregation, praised the couple for their exemplary marital life, describing their union as a testimony of God’s grace and the strength that comes from walking together in faith.
The celebration was attended by the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Doctor Onyekachukwu Ibezim, and his wife; the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Mr. Sly Ezeokenwa; members of the Anambra State Executive Council; senior government officials; clergy members; and other invited guests.
