The Benin Traditional Council has officially clarified that the Palace had no role in the reported manhandling of Pedro Obaseki, asserting that such actions do not reflect the values of the monarchy. In a formal statement released on December 31, 2025, the Council emphasized that any act of violence is contrary to the peaceful nature of the throne.

The clarification, signed by the Secretary of the Council, Frank Irabor, maintains that the incident was entirely unauthorized. Okay News reports that the Council described the monarch as a father to all who would never sanction physical aggression, regardless of the circumstances or provocations involved.

The Palace further issued a stern warning to the youth, advising them against taking the law into their own hands and urging them to remain law-abiding in their conduct. Additionally, the Council called on the public and social media users to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of information before dissemination to avoid spreading misinformation.

Concluding the announcement, the Council reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining order and peace within the kingdom.
