Nigeria’s Super Eagles will face Mozambique in the Round of 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations following the conclusion of group-stage matches on Wednesday night.

Tournament organisers confirmed the pairing after the final standings were settled across all six groups, setting up a knockout showdown in Fez as the competition enters its decisive phase.

The Round of 16 fixtures will be played between January 3 and January 6, 2026, across several Moroccan host cities, with the winners advancing to the quarter-finals scheduled for January 9 and 10.

Nigeria, represented by the Super Eagles, qualified in commanding fashion after finishing top of Group C with a perfect record of three wins from three matches.

The West African side edged Tunisia and Tanzania to secure first place, carrying strong momentum into the knockout stage.

Their next opponents, Mozambique, progressed as one of the best third-placed teams from Group F, which also featured Cameroon and Ivory Coast.

The matchup places Nigeria against a side that has already defied expectations at the tournament.

The 2025 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations is being hosted by Morocco, with Round of 16 matches spread across Fez, Tangier, Rabat, Casablanca, Agadir and Marrakesh.

Sixteen teams advanced from the group stage. Hosts Morocco and Mali qualified from Group A, while Egypt and South Africa emerged from Group B. Group C produced Nigeria, Tunisia and Tanzania, while Senegal, DR Congo and Benin progressed from Group D. Algeria, Burkina Faso and Sudan advanced from Group E, alongside Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Mozambique from Group F.
